History of East Asian Mission Vicariate |
|
It had been already a very old idea, to have a Salvatorian community in the Philippines. When the Salvatorian Sisters started a foundation in the Philippines in 1974, the Fathers and Brothers felt also more encouraged to open a foundation for the male branch of the society, but it was only in April 1996 when...

New House - Student's Perspective |
|
Why do people need to have a house?
Why is the house very important and necessary?
The house does not need to be big but it has to be convenient, cosy, roomy enough and especially, make its owner happy and satisfied.
So we need the house being built (in new Manila, Philippines): This is our happy expectation. Especially, with the person concerned about the building, our house is almost complete. It has a big chapel, big library, big dining room and the flat roof, very wide and beautiful, too. The building is very nicely situated (little noise, little pollution, few cars...). The building is good and convenient for us to study, reduce our stress after studying hard or working hard. And one more important reason: We have a very good position to proclaim the good news of God.
We are happy and we are looking forward to this new building. (see more photos)

House of Studies Nears Completion |
|
“Progress is our most important product.” That was a slogan of a large company and we're borowing it to show the great progress being made on our new house of studies in Manila. The three-storey building is over 75% complete and we expect to be able to move in sometime in May. With a new gate and a proper coat of external paint, the house fits in quite smartly with its neighbors. The chapel has its altar and ambo, the rooms their cabinetry and floor tile, the stairway its bannister. Next on the agenda is the outfitting of the kitchen and dining room. The roof is awaiting its waterproof decking and then the laundry and water storage tanks can be set up. A covered area will be erected and a few potted plants will provide the finishing touch. Our novices are eager, not only to complete their novitiate, but also to be the first residents as they begin theology studies in June. They will be joined by the next group of candidates who will learn English prior to their philosophy courses.

Life is indeed full of surprises and as it enfolds, we can’t help but be thankful to the Lord, as He is the one providing us all these graces. Our dear Fr. Adam and Fr. Gunther have just celebrated their birthday with so many unforgettable events, catching both of them in total surprise. Fr. Adam who has just turned 40 remains so vibrant and energetic. His presence in the community is always a gift as he makes everyone feels so welcomed through his very simple and caring personality. He is always a hands-on priest and formator.
